We are excited to introduce iMed to your workflows as a comprehensive consent solution which will streamline the consent process and enhance patient safety. Here are some key points to familiarize yourself with iMed before our April 15 go-live:
What is iMed?
- iMed is a third-party system that provides procedure-specific consents, ensuring all consents contain the four basic elements: risks, benefits, alternatives, and key aspects of the procedure.
- It offers a prepopulated library of content for the basic elements of the consent, simplifying the documentation process.
Must iMed be Used?
- Yes, iMed must be utilized when performing care in a WellSpan facility.
- Exclusions include trauma situations. If the consent does not exist in iMed, providers may resort to paper until the consent can be built into the system.
Can Someone Else Start the Consent?
- Yes, consents can be queued up by support staff and other appropriate staff members. Please verify operational workflows with practice managers or leadership in your area for any preferred caveats.
- However, the provider remains responsible for thoroughly explaining the risks, benefits, alternatives, and key aspects to the patient and signing the consent.
What will iMed do for me as a provider?
- iMed will increase compliance, as it requires all necessary elements on a consent to be completed before signatures occur.
- Anticipate efficiencies in the consent workflow after allowing ample time for adoption of the new system.
Who can provide support during this transition?
- More than iMed 600 super users systemwide will be available for onsite support. Here is a list of iMed super users to contact for assistance during go-live.
Unable to locate a consent in the iMed Library?
- Team members should NOT delay patient care and proceed with consenting on paper prior to submitting a request to add the consent to the iMed Library.
- To submit a request, use this link.
iMed will greatly enhance practice workflow and patient care experience.
